With rose-pink yarn, ch 21. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across.
Stitch count: 20 stitches
Tips
A flat strip of 20 sc.
Lay the flower strip with its scalloped edge facing away from you. Coil the starting edge tightly to form the center, then continue rolling so the scallops sit around the outside as petals. Keep the flat foundation edge aligned underneath. Use the starting yarn tail and tapestry needle to sew through the aligned foundation edge and secure the coil from the center outward without stitching across the visible petals. Weave in the remaining tail.
Position the open top of the stem against the flat underside of the rolled flower. Center it beneath the rose. Use the stem's long sewing tail to stitch the stem opening securely to the flower base, catching several layers of the foundation edge. Weave in the tail on the underside.
Place the two leaves on opposite sides of the stem, about one-third of the way up from the bottom. Angle them outward and slightly upward. Use each leaf's long tail to sew its narrow starting end to the stem. With leaf-green yarn, embroider one straight center vein from the base toward the rounded tip of each leaf. Weave in all ends.
Use another DK yarn color for the flower while keeping the stem and leaves green. A different fiber or yarn weight may change the petal definition and finished size.
Add or remove complete stem rounds before fastening off. Each added round contains 6 sc; the finished length depends on yarn, hook, and tension.
The yarn selection for this draft is 100% cotton. If you make the rose with cotton yarn, gently hand wash it and reshape the petals and leaves while damp. Test the yarn's care method and colorfastness before washing the finished piece.
The flower is made from a flat strip with ten scallops. Roll it from the starting edge with the scallops facing outward, then sew through the aligned foundation edge to hold the rose shape.
No. The stem is a narrow crocheted tube and remains flexible; no wire or stuffing is used.
About 18 cm overall is the design target, not a measured result. Finished size varies with yarn, hook, and tension.
Yes. A different yarn weight or fiber may change the flower's drape, stitch definition, stem width, and finished size. Choose a hook that makes a firm fabric.
